On April 12th, 13th, and 14th the Monroe Theater Guild put on a Talent Show for local performers. Auditions were held in early March and rehearsals began at the end of March. The theme of the show was “The Greatest Showman.” The Opening and Closing numbers were songs from the movie of the same name. Those numbers featured the whole cast of the show.
I haven’t done a “theater” show since probably middle school? I can see why people love to do local theater. It can be addictive. The cast and crew were so supportive of each other and we all had a great time. I was asked if I would accompany some of the other singers on guitar. I was happy to and I hope I did a decent job supporting them. I am already looking forward to the 2nd Annual “Monore’s Got Talent” show!
The last couple of weeks have been hectic and busy, but the show came together and I think it was well received. I’ve got to give a big Thank You to Jackie Ceithamer and Tashona Smith (co-directors) and the cast and crew for putting in the hours and putting together a great show. And a huge Thank You to all the people who came out and support local shows like this. We had great crowds Friday and Saturday nights. I’m writing this on Sunday morning before our final performance this afternoon. I guess I better get ready!
